I had not been careful enough and now have to start the diamond over again. This is a fairly large set back but I am still making progress. Here is what I have done yesterday to try to get back on track, using a small saw.

Well, it's good to see you are unphased by such a setback. I suppose resilience will have to be a major characteristic towards being a good whittler (not to mention patience). I also suppose that you had to be comfortable working with tools that I consider lethal weapons (yikes!). Don't get discouraged and keep whittlin' on!
